This one was for the „cool girls“. Black beanies, lots of denim, or better lots of distressed denim plus lots of glittery denim. Big coats, big parkas, big bomber jackets. Everything a cool girl could want was there. But let’s break it down. Firstly, yes, there was fur again, so let’s get that out of the way. Used in coats or as padding and linings and in mini-dresses, cool! The show started off with a lot of baggy and oversized silhouettes and a soundtrack we imagine a girl bopping her head to while strutting down some East Village street. Some great cargo-pants with big pockets, leather vests with even bigger pockets, huge bags to carry all the organic produce and cold brew ingredients one needs. Something that was very apparent was the mix and match styling of very Dolce & Gabbana coded garments. A black lacey dress paired with flat, but super chunky over knee leather boots and thick wool stockings. Double-layered-denim pants with a tiny lace-top under a floor-sweeping leopard print coat. A beige fur top worn with probably the best black leather cargo-pants we’ve seen in a while. The way the pants were cut off mid-shin, or the use of a very old-school newspaper print, fuzzy flats, oversized sunglasses. All felt genuine and on point. And it’s been a while here that that’s the case. What was missing a bit was some tailoring which we know the house is capable of. It happened here and there for example in the look of a super tight double-breasted jacket paired with, again, cargo pants but could have been developed further. And then – vibe switch: Creating a little kitschy second act along the lines of „day to night “, the music changed and out on the catwalk came flying an array of night dresses, one more glittery, shinier, and skimpier than the other. Skimpy in the best sense of the word though, these dresses had a very accomplished and perfected look. If there had been a third act where the dresses from the night portion of the show had been styled with streetwear from before – that would have been a whole new cool girl gear show.
