A collection titled Bling Bling Bling, or rather BLING BLING BLING doesn’t leave much to the imagination. And we can confirm, it didn’t. In a truly ostentatious outing, the worlds of street and sartorialism found common ground Friday morning in Paris’ Trianon concert hall. We’re still trying to decipher if these opposites attracted, rejected or found symbiosis somewhere between the plethora of chi chi that were jewels, stones, fake money, pearls, shining shimmering extravaganza, paired with suit jackets dissolved in such a way, essentially only shoulder pads and sleeves were left with fabric remnants being tied around the torso.

Heavy inspiration was pulled from Hip Hop culture in the way snapbacks were worn at an angle, walks were movement-directed, jewelry was worn and luxe tracksuits seemed to be the base layer of numerous looks. We could spot a notable amount of collaborations, Kappa being the most prominent with their iconic logo and the DHL caps being the most triggering: Hello Vetements, back when it was still a thing. We had an initial moment of “This collection might possibly be a bit obvious and literal.” However, after sitting on it, and thinking back to the opening song of the show being a campy choice of a Black Eyed Peas single, Watanabe cleverly hit the spot in a men’s season that is falling a bit flat in the excitement department.
